OUDANCE FESTIVAL
As part of the OuDance Festival program, the cinema Studio will be presenting on Saturday, September 18th and on Sunday 19th at 4 pm Cold Chain, a dance film about intergenerational silence. Choreographer Ninni Perko draws from the film’s material about subconscious, bodily experience and the history of his family. Interpreted by Academician Marjo Kuusela, Ninni Perko, Krista-Julia Arpo and more than 30 women aged 25–90, the Cold Chain dives into the silenced stories of the families.

As part of the OuDance Festival program, Willman Dance Company’s Empress’s New Clothes will be seen on Sunday 19 September at 4 pm in Valvesali. The performance is driven by humor of and based on the consumer celebration. The work is flooded with movement and cunning music.

As part of the OuDance Festival program, Susanna Leinonen Company’s TOXIC will be seen on Saturday 18 September at 7 pm in Valvesali. TOXIC dives into the vicious world of social media, which shapes its essence according to the harsh demands of our time. The piece makes shameless use of its power. It intrusively invades both individuals and the environment. TOXIC is a delicate product of the vicious, vicious pursuit of our time.

As part of the OuDance Festival program, Wilma Seppälä’s and Onni Toivonen’s Amalgam will be seen on Thursday 16 September at 7 pm in Valvesali. The performance is about the clash of juggling and dance. Amalgam takes the viewer on a common journey of movement and objects towards something greater than the sum of its parts.

As part of the OuDance Festival program, Race Horse Company’s Chevalier will be seen on Friday 17 September at 6 pm in Pikisali, Oulu Theater. Presented by Kalle Lehto, Chevalier is irresistibly fun and atmospheric for children and
a family-oriented show that takes its viewers on an excursion into the world of the cave’s brave horsemen.

OUDANCE FESTIVAL
As part of the OuDance Festival program, Carl Knif Company’s Fugue in Two Colors will be seen on Wednesday 15 September at 7 pm in Valvesali. In the piece Fugue in Two Colors Knif explores the expressive power of movement. The piece itself is a study of the ancient relationship between music and dance. In the piece the strict musical form of Dmitri Šostakovitš’s preludes and fugues is juxtaposed with the rambling movement of the dancers.

The annual OuDance Festival on 13th-17th September celebrates it’s 30-year-old journey!

JoJo – Oulu Dance Center launched a search for an Audience Work Coordinator in February. Fourteen applications were received and seven candidates were interviewed. JoJo’s Board elected KM Leea Alatalo. She will begin her full-time position on August 2, 2021. From April to the beginning of June, she works alongside Heikkinen during the induction period.
