Kiertoliike is a professional forum in the field of Finnish dance. The event brings together professionals from different parts of Finland to discuss and network. Kiertoliike encourages all actors and partners in the field of dance – dancers, choreographers, dance teachers, students, and other parties working, collaborating with and interested in dance culture – to participate in joint reflection around different themes.
Kiertoliike is organised annually by the national network of regional dance centres, in different parts of Finland and in cooperation with regional dance festivals.
JoJo – Oulu Dance Centre is participating in the European Capital of Culture Oulu2026 with an international project. The project will implement an event in autumn 2026 that combines the international Keđja Stretch event and the national Kiertoliike professional forum of the regional dance centre network, with the annual OuDance festival serving as a platform for the event.
The theme of the event is the impact of the environment on identity, how a person’s locality versus, for example, Europeanness, Nordicness or Balticness affect the construction of an artist’s identity and professional field of activity. The cross-cutting perspectives of the event are Sámiism and the effects and opportunities of digitality.
The program consists of profesional speeches, lectures, panel discussions, audience work projects, dance performances, dance movies, and evening clubs. The event will be held mainly in the Oulu city centre area, both in public spaces open to everyone and in performance spaces aimed at performing arts.
