Creating a Safer space

We want everyone involved with JoJo to feel as safe as possible. Due to this we have drawn up and committed to meeting our principles for creating a safer space, together with JoJo’s staff and board, our audience, professionals involved in our work and other collaborators. We expect everyone involved in our work to adhere to these principles and will address any emerging situation that is not aligned with these principles. If you experience or notice deviations in our actions or the actions of anyone involved in our work, please contact a member of our staff. We encourage personal contact but also allow feedback sent through our contact form. You can also make suggestions for additions or changes to our principles for a safer space policy using these same channels.

JoJo’s principles for creating a safer space

  • Each person involved with JoJo has the right to participate in its activities as themselves and on their own premises. We do not make assumptions or generalisations. We also understand that every person’s way of participating is different.
  • We respect our common space and actions and others involved in them. We respect diversity in participants and opinions alike.
  • We expect everyone involved in our activities to respect the physical, mental and social boundaries of themselves and others. Inappropriate or violating actions of any kind are not allowed. JoJo does not allow harassing, disturbing or threatening behaviour. We demand everyone’s right to body peace.
  • We encourage everyone involved to communicate their own expectations, boundaries and wishes to achieve consensus and understanding. We encourage clear communications, discussions and asking questions that respect personal boundaries. It is everyone’s responsibility to help others reach understanding and to actively work towards this common goal.
  • We remind everyone that making mistakes is human and allowed. Remember that people are not defined by their mistakes but by the actions that follow. We encourage accountability, apology, and accepting feedback for our behaviour.
