Room for One More

Choreographer Sara Europaeus and her team are holding auditions in November 2026 for professional dancers and final-year students/interns for their new production, Room for One More. JoJo – Oulu Dance Center is a co-producer of the production. The production is supported by the Arts Promotion Center, the Western Regional Dance Center, and the Barker Theater, Turku’s independent arts venue.

The rehearsal period in February 2027 takes place in Oulu, and a few rehearsals will be held in Turku in January. The piece will have five (5) performances in Oulu in February. Additional performances are planned for May and August–September. Compensation for the work will be paid in accordance with the Teme collective agreement. We will cover the dancers’ accommodations in Oulu.

The audition will include a GUESTHOUSE movement class led by Sara and an introduction to the methodology, task-based work both individually and in groups, as well as repertoire work and an exchange of ideas with the other participants.

We are looking for:

• A virtuoso mover; a wide range of physical expression to play with. Attentive to detail, fierce, charismatic, profound, committed, and generous
• Captivating as an individual and supportive within a group; an original, distinctive dance style and the ability to engage in precise repertoire work as part of a group
• Working style: sweaty, process-oriented; as a collaborator, participatory, empathetic, reflective, and patient
• Performers of various ages (we also encourage performers aged 50 and older to participate) and from diverse backgrounds
