Description of the performance

Lame Tamer is a performance combining dance and theater. It is a performance about wildness and taming, about subjugation and the animal side of humanity. The performance is intended for theatre spaces where the audience can be seated on all four sides of the performance area. Resembling a manége or arena, the audience experiences the performance in a multi-sensory way.

The creative team of Lame Tamer consists of renowned Finnish artists. Tuomas Norvio and Kimmo Pohjonen have extensive careers as musicians/composers; Pietu Pietiäinen and Karoliina Koiso-Kanttila are award-winning designers. The performers are a multi-skilled group: Jukka Peltola is a well-known actor, Katri Soini is a distinguished dancer, Kaisa Niemi is a very versatile performer, and Pekka Louhio is a very strong dancer. Sari Palmgren has a long career as choreographer and dancer, and in this performance she works as both choreographer and performer.

The stunning dancers live in different states of being, and these states change imperceptibly. The movement vocabulary is authentic. When they push another one, they are doing it seriously. Everything happens with full energy. The spectator is part of the events, due to the format of the performance space and the contact that the dancers take. The contact feels natural and justifiable. During the performance, we are all present in the here and now.
