The performance is part of the Oulu Theatre’s Oulu Children’s and Youth Theatre Festival programme.
Paavo Virtanen and darkness brings to the stage Anneli Kanto‘s lovely Virtanen brothers. The performance had it’s premiere this February in Dance Theatre Raatikko’s program.
The performance for children takes viewers with brothers Paavo and Perttu on a wintry adventure. When the brothers return from a birthday party in the evening, the familiar home path becomes alien and the boys’ imaginations take off. Snow-covered mailboxes, trees and shrubs look strange; What if there are bogeymen.
The performance evokes darkness from many different angles and with a touch of humour. It deals with the feeling of fear openly and playfully, without being too scary.
The work is based on the children’s book of the same name in Anneli Kanto’s popular book series Five Wild Virtanens.
The visit is produced in cooperation with Oulu Theatre.
